My Blog

 

Hi I'm Allyson Hardy. This is my blog about our project, which I will update periodically. My partner Tori and I have been friends for a long time, and we are very excited to take on the project. We decided to volunteer for our project because we both love helping in our community and other places. The feeling is really great when you know that you have helped out in your community, and helped others in need. In our project we will be volunteering at a variety of places. We have already volunteered at a DQ fun run. In this event we helped set up, and also helped people finish the race. We have also volunteered at the TreeHouse Wildlife Center in Dow IL. In this task we cleaned up the landscaping, and also pulled weeds. Our goal for our project is to help people in need. We also want to inspire others to volunteer. Second Blog

Hi readers! My partner Tori and I have been busy these past few weeks, but we are going to try to volunteer this weekend. This weekend we plan to pick up trash in our hometown. We are excited to take on this task because we want our environment as clean as possible. We are also very excited to be able to help in our town. We hope to put lots of pictures on our website from our volunteer work we did a couple of weeks ago. Third Blog

Hey readers! My partner Tori and I have made progress on our project this past week. We went around our home town and picked up trash. We went to Arboretum, Heartland Meadows, and up and down the main road, Prairie Street. We picked up trash for about 2 hours. Pictures are coming soon so keep checking our site! Fourth Blog

Hi readers! My partner Tori and I have been very busy this past week with basketball, so we haven't been able to make any progress on our project. With it getting darker outside it is making it harder and harder to volunteer because we have practice everyday until 6. However we hope to volunteer this weekend! There is a Toys for Tots drive at Emmanuel Free Methodist Church that we hope to volunteer at! We are very excited to help with this drive because the feeling we will get when the children receive their gifts! Please keep checking our site for more pictures and updates!!

Fifth Blog

Hi readers! My partner and I have once again been really busy with basketball, so we haven't been able to really do anything. Unfortunately we did not make it to church last Sunday to help with the Toys for Tots drive. However are planning on going Sunday to help out. Tomorrow night we are volunteering at the Bethalto Christmas Lights. We are handing out hot chocolate to the public for a fundraiser. We are very excited to volunteer tomorrow night! We hope to see a lot of people there! We are also planning on picking up more trash this weekend as well! With Christmas soon approaching there will be many volunteering options available for the public! Sixth Blog

Hi readers, Happy New Year! Over the break we volunteered out our 4th place! We volunteered at the Christmas Village in our home town. We handed out hot chocolate, helped kids get pictures with Santa, and we helped kids on and off the train ride. However we did not meet our goal. We were just one short of our goal to volunteer at five places. With the new year we are going to make a resolution. Our resolution is to meet our goal of volunteering at 10 places by the end of the school year. My partner and I need to get more involved with out project. Hi readers! Since the last time we posted a blog we gave a speech about our project to our class. We are planning to volunteer again coming up shortly when the weather gets a little bit nicer. We would like to get more recognition to our project. Eighth Blog

Hey readers! My partner Tori and I have been very busy this week. The basketball post season is approaching and we have been spending all of our time preparing for it. We hoped to volunteer at a place last weekend but unfortunately something came up and we couldn't. We really would love to start volunteering at a variety of places, and we will be able to in about a month. We really hope to do something this week, but we aren't for sure if we will be able to. Ninth Blog

Hey readers! My partner Tori and I are getting prepared for our spring volunteering! We haven’t got much done over the winter due to sports and bad weather. But know the weather is getting nicer and we will have more time in our day, we will defiantly be getting outside. This weekend on Saturday we plan to go to the Great River Road and pick up trash. We are going to take a hike up to the cross at the top of the bluffs, and pick up trash on our way there. We are super excited to get involved with the environment because we love going outside. Tenth Blog

Hi readers! Since the last blog post my partner and I have visited the Great River Road, and picked up trash. We took a hike up to the top of the bluffs, and also picked up trash on our way up there. The weather was very nice, and out trip was very enjoyable! With April soon approaching we will be presenting out final project to the community. We hope to get two more opportunities to volunteer before we give that presentation. We hope for these opportunities, that we get to go outside.
